The Old Fashioned

What you'll need:

A Rocks Glass
Orange Slice
Orange Bitters
Bourbon or Whiskey (whatever your preference. Just don't do Scotch, let's not be wasteful)
Sugar
Ice
water

Take your rocks glass, dash 4-5 drops of bitters first in the glass then place 1/2 tbs of sugar on the bottom of the glass.

Swirl you glass around to lace it the bitters and sugar

Cut a 1/6 slice of your orange, and place it in the glass (eat the rest yum Vitamin C ^_^)

Fill your cup with Ice (give it some wiggle room)

Pour 2 oz of your whiskey of your choice (or however much you'd like)

Add a splash of water and stir

Enjoy :)

CAUTION: If you put too much bitters in your glass on accident, before adding the other ingredients simply swirl your glass and dump whatever left over residue you have.

Your Ultimate Winter Drink

Ah the good ole HOT WHISKEY! One of my favorite winter drinks that warms me right up!

I first was met with the lovely treat almost THREE years ago in Galway, Ireland. I was at College Bar at NUIG Galway (Ireland may be Catholic, but they love their drinks), and my friend Fleur ordered a Hot whiskey. Its like tea for adults. You actually can use one of your favorite teas and add it to this lovely mix if you're sick of the classic process.

You see, it's all pretty simple.

  1. Grab a tea kettle, or a pot,  and fill it with water. Heat that baby up! (with fire/heat)
  2.  While your water is heating, take a mug, take a shot (or 6) of your favorite Irish Whiskey. Stay away from Jameson. Make it different spice it up. I'm currently drinking Concannon ; its a blend of malt and grain whiskey from the lovely country :). It has some spice and a bit of smoke in it because this whiskey is left ex-bourbon barrels and then Pinot Noir (wine) casks for a maximum of four years to bring out a bit more character than the classic Jameson you see everywhere you go
  3. Add a tablespoon of lemon in your mug, followed by 3 teaspoons of sugar (or as sweet as you'd prefer)
  4. When the water boils, add as much water as needed to fill up the mug and stir. Let it cool a bit so its drinkable and enjoy :)

Enjoy Folks. I think for most of you its a great way to settle in your 4 week vacation ^_^

Why I love Wine: A Compliation of my favorites of 2012

There are times like there were all I want to do is curl on my couch, turn on the tv and watch a show with substance, and moral character. I show full of substance, playful banter, and one that truely expresses the vaule of traditions.

So, as I was watching "Drawn Together" in sweats and my favorite pair of socks.

Wonder woman knee highs

I found myself in the worst possible situation a twenty three year old drunk would be faced with; no booze in the house.

It hit me, on such a cool night I need the best medicine to consume that only compliments a fall night like this in such a relaxing location. A glass  bottle of wine seemed like that would be the best option.

Then I realized, I need to share my favorite wines of the year.

Ladies and Gentlmen, the fab 5.

Orin Swift "E"
Most of you have heard me talk about  Orin Swift wines frequently, but here is something that is finally affordable for all with the college budget. This Spanish red (Thus E for Espana) has the perfect balance of fruit and spice with an added dose of "That's the stuff right there".

Villa San-Juliette Cabernet Sauvignon
I love Cabernet Sauvignon. Its bred with Cabernet Franc, and Sauvignon Blanc. Normally, "Cabs" are heavy in tanin but again, this wine is lighter and fruity, because of it's location (Paso Robles). Like all Cabs though, it still has the weight you would want in a Cab.
Terradora Lacyrma Christi
Want one of the dirtiest things in the world aside from Lindsay Lohan's P***y? (Because no one wants that anymore) This wine is it. It's got that volcanic soil taste with dark deep fruits which pull it all together into a healthy, hearty wine to immerse yourself in.

Mumm Napa Cuvee
Celebrate for New years with this! Stop drinking Andre and J Roget. It's simply soda pop for adults. We are better than that. Get the same sweetness as those cheap sparkling wines, but add apricot, pear, and little bubbles in your glass. Little bubbles = classy bitch.
Bota Box Redvolution
I mean come on,we're in college! I have to promote a boxed wine for those who NEED to buy in bulk. It's a simple blend but it's great for ANY occassion..during the day.
Breakfast- Bota Flakes
Lunch- Botawich
Dinner- Redvolution stew
It's pretty versatile.
